SPREAD THE LOVE

Updated: September 27, 2020

If you’re an American citizen or U.S. passport-holder you’re probably wondering what travel options are available to you given the current global situation. The good news is that a lot of countries have begun to ease restrictions and re-open their borders to international tourists. However, the not-so-good news (depending on how you look at it) is that a lot of countries remain closed to Americans, despite opening up to other countries.

Here’s a current list of where Americans can travel to both domestically and internationally. And if you’re a friendly neighbor to the North, please check out “Where Can Canadians Travel To Right Now“! But before you go booking any travel, here are a few important things to consider:

Insurance. Most standard insurance will not cover pandemic-related claims, so it is important to obtain the right travel insurance if you do travel abroad.

Flight Cancellations. Flights may be cancelled at any time due to demand fluctuations or flight restrictions, and refunds may not be provided. Please book with caution!

Travel Restrictions. The U.S has issued a host of travel advisories, meaning that Americans should avoid all international travel. And while there is no mandatory quarantine at the federal level, each state may implement its own measures. Make sure to keep a close eye on the U.S Government’s Travel Advisory website for up-to-date information and check with local authorities before making travel arrangements.

And if you do plan on travelling, don’t forget to wear a face mask in crowded places to protect yourself and others.

U.S. (Domestic Travel)

Travelling within the continental United States might just be the best option right now. You’ll save a lot of money and avoid the hassle of strict new airport screening measures and airlines safety protocols. And given how rapidly restrictions and rules are changing, the last thing you want is to be stuck abroad without a plan, money, or medical insurance.

With that said, the domestic travel landscape isn’t exactly straightforward at the moment. Some states have heavily opposed implementing any sort of restrictions, while others have imposed strict measures such as mandatory testing and 14-day quarantines for those entering the state.
